Busch Light Clash format notes

Photo: NASCAR The halftime break for the Busch Light Clash will occur on lap 75, where teams will have six minutes to work on their cars. In the lone practice for the race, teams will be divided into three groups for eight-minute practice sessions, and each of the three groups will have three different sessions. ( Source ) Caution laps will not count in the heat races or the feature race. The qualifying order is based on the final 2021 point standings, but in reverse, meaning reigning Cup Series champion Kyle Larson will go out last. Each diver will have two timed laps in qualifying. Here is everything you need to know for the highly anticipated 2022 Busch Light Clash at the Coliseum: Started in 1979, and run under a variety of names since, premier series drivers competed in the Busch Clash at Daytona International Speedway to kickstart the annual competition. For the first time ever, this season’s exhibition will be held Feb. 6 at 6 p.m. ET on a 0.25-mile asphalt oval inside Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. February’s race doubles as the competitive debut of the Next Gen cars and a variety of other team and driver changes from the offseason, giving race fans their long-awaited look at a full fleet of redesigned Chevrolet Camaros, Ford Mustangs and Toyota Camrys. Kyle Weatherman joins DGM Racing

Weatherman makes his debut with DGM Racing at the Daytona International Speedway series-opener on February 19, piloting the No. 92 Chevrolet Camaro. Wolfpack Racing and partner The Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) rejoins forces with Weatherman for the West Coast swing, serving as the primary sponsor for Auto Club Speedway, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway. The three-tiered system – from L1 to L3 – was added to the Cup Series Rule Book on Monday. The format was put in place before the debut of the Next Gen car model, which hits the track in season-opening events next month. The structure reserves its harshest L3 penalty options for the tampering and counterfeiting of Next Gen single-source vendor parts. The 17 cars participating all lined up and ran a flawless, but exciting 10-lap sprint session together. Kurt Busch, Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin and Todd Gilliland led laps but it was primarily an exercise in drafting. A successful lesson. The cars were able to run two and three-wide and there was a lot of shifting and jockeying for position throughout the field on the iconic 2.5-mile high banks. NASCAR announces two key competition personnel promotions

By NASCAR Communications NASCAR today announced that Brad Moran has been promoted to NASCAR Cup Series Managing Director and Seth Kramlich will transition to the role of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Managing Director. Both Moran and Kramlich enter their new positions following years of experience managing racing series at the national level. Most recently, Moran held the position of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Managing Director. Kramlich moves to his new role after three years as NASCAR Xfinity Series Assistant Director.
